Privacy, terms, editorial standards & corrections
How we handle your data, the terms of using this site, the standards behind our reporting, and how we correct the record.
Privacy Policy
We collect only what we need to publish and operate, chiefly the email address you give us for the newsletter, and standard, anonymized analytics about how pages are used.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Newsletter data is used to send the Fisheries Access Report and related editorial updates, and nothing else.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any issue, and you may request that we delete your information by writing to privacy@fisheriesaccess.com.
Terms of Use
The content on FisheriesAccess is provided for information and is protected by copyright. You may share and link to our work with attribution; you may not republish full articles without permission.
Reporting reflects our best understanding at the time of publication. While we work hard for accuracy, the site is provided “as is,” without warranties, and should not be taken as legal or financial advice.
By using the site you agree to use it lawfully and not to disrupt its operation or misrepresent its content.
Editorial Standards
We report straight and mark opinion clearly. News articles are reported without fear or favor; editorials and commentary carry the advocacy voice and are always labeled as such.
We maintain a firewall between funding and coverage. Sponsorship and reader support keep the platform free, and no sponsor reviews, approves, or influences our reporting.
We source our work in the public record, council documents, landings data, and stock assessments, and we name sources wherever we responsibly can. We protect confidential sources who would face harm for speaking.
Corrections Policy
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and say so. Corrections are noted at the foot of the affected article with the date and nature of the change.
Significant corrections are also logged on this page and, where warranted, sent to newsletter subscribers.
To report an error, write to corrections@fisheriesaccess.com. We review every message and respond.
